Antisemitismus im Kontext von Kindertagesstätten und Grundschulen

Translated: Anti-Semitism in the context of daycare centers and elementary schools

Anti-Semitism is one of the oldest forms of group-based violence in human history, which is constantly being updated in different historical, social and institutional contexts. In the current discourse, an incident-based understanding of anti-Semitism predominates through a focus on definable, anti-Semitic attacks and an externalization of anti-Semitism as a problem of others. A structural understanding of anti-Semitism, on the other hand, reveals how anti-Semitism is part of social practices and institutional routines. A research landscape on anti-Semitism from Jewish perspectives has only been developing for a few years. This shows how anti-Semitism acts as a biographical category of experience in Jewish biographies and is linked to questions of social and institutional participation in addition to aspects of security. Previous studies and current debates on anti-Semitism focus on the area of secondary schools and universities. Against this background, the lecture will use current studies to examine the question of how anti-Semitism manifests itself in practices in the everyday institutional life of day-care centers and elementary school and how it affects Jewish children and their families.
